“In Siberia, in an area where there are a lot of wolves,” the narrator met a hunter who was a partisan during the Civil War. The narrator asked the old partisan whether the wolves in these places attacked a person. He replied that this happened, but a person has weapons and strength, and the wolf is a dog, and nothing more. Even an unarmed person will find protection from the wolf with the help of his mind.
A person has the most powerful weapon - his mind, resourcefulness and, in particular, such resourcefulness, so that he can make himself a weapon out of every thing.
As an example, partisans described how one hunter “turned a simple box into a weapon”.
Once in the winter, four hunters started a wolf hunt. On a moonlit night, they rode on a sleigh to the steppe, taking with them a piglet and a large box without a lid, sewn from hemp. In the steppes, the hunters made the piglet scream loudly. On this screech from all sides hungry wolves came running and chased after the sleigh.
The horse sensed the wolves, rushed, and a piglet box flew out of the sleigh, and one of the hunters followed. Without a gun, he was among a wolf pack. Some of the wolves ran after the horse, the rest, eating a piglet, decided to feast on a man. They look - but there is no man, only the box is upside down on the road.
The wolves came to the box and realized that he ...moves off the road in deep snow. Overcoming fear, the wolves surrounded the box, and he began to sink lower and lower.
Wolves think: “What a wonder? So we will wait until the box leaves under the snow. ”
The leader of the pack gathered courage, pressed his nose to the gap in the box, and from there it blew! Wolves rushed in all directions - only they were seen. Soon the rest of the hunters returned, and their friend got out of the box unscathed.
The narrator asked what the hunter blew at the wolf from the box. “I blew it with my human word,” the partisan laughed, ““ You are fools, wolves, ”said nothing more.”
