(126 words) Devotion is the ability to be true to one’s word, belief, and feeling.
In the proposed text of Leonid Andreev, the dog was faithful to his master to the last. When the writer lost his strength and inspiration, it was the animal that supported him. However, when everything was working out with Vladimir Mikhailovich, he forgot to think about Vasyuk (sentences 27-31). Due to his negligence, the dog died, leaving the man to grieve alone. The hero realized that he had betrayed a friend.
In another story by L. Andreev, entitled “Kusaka,” people also first encouraged the abandoned dog, taming it, and then left for the city, leaving the animal in the country. Kusaka was betrayed by the new owners, trusted them, and they responded with treachery. Once again, the beast turned out to be capable of fidelity, but man did not.
Thus, devotion is also the ability to fully bear responsibility for the one you tamed.
Movie example: In Jake Casdan’s film “Jumanji: Call of the Jungle”, teenage relationships are shown: Spencer remained faithful to his friend, despite a change of interest, but Anthony became ashamed of his childhood friendship. While the old friend helped him with his studies, the athlete only reproached or completely ignored him. However, it was this fidelity that helped Spencer rally the different guys in one team and achieve the goal.
Personal life example: Recently, I was at my friend’s birthday, where, besides me, there were only three people, although earlier it was twice as many. The birthday man said that the guys did not even warn him that they would not come. Therefore, the table was full of food, but the people were not. We tried to console him, but still it was obvious that such an act of friends upset him. Alas, it is unclear to many people what devotion is, they do not value friendship and scatter it, risking being alone.
Media example: In one of the news portals, I read a story about how a teacher ran to save students from a fire and died, suffocating with carbon monoxide. She could have survived, but a sense of duty and loyalty to her ideals sent her to the burning building. This heroic act is the highest manifestation of devotion.
